Unoccupied boat off Kingston Beach triggers air and sea search


A helicopter and on water search is underway off a suburban beach in Tasmania after an unoccupied boat washed ashore.

Tasmania Police says the white flybridge cruiser with a small inflatable dingy attached washed onto Kingston Beach about 2.05pm on Wednesday.

Tasmania Police said “marine resources and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter are currently conducting a search of the area and making enquiries in relation to the owner of the vessel”.

Another helicopter has since joined the search effort.

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 131 444.
