Optus may be top dog when it comes to the NBN, according to the ACCC, but second-place has been taken out by a surprising contender this quarter.
In its 32nd Meauring Broadband Australia report for April 2026, the ACCC has named Dodo, and its sister telco iPrimus, in second place. For context, the top 10 monitored telcos include Aussie Broadband, Dodo, Exetel, iiNet, iPrimus, Leaptel, Optus, Telstra, TPG, and Superloop.
Optus customers reportedly received 102.3 per cent of their NBN plan’s maximum speeds during the busiest hours of the day, that’s between 7pm and 11pm, Monday to Friday.

Hot on its heels, however, is Dodo and iPrimus, whose customers achieved 101.5 per cent of plan speeds during peak usage hours. In third place was TPG by just .1 per cent, offers its customers 101.4 per cent of plan speeds during peak hours.

As you can see above, Optus is the most pricey and Dodo is the most affordable with a $31.99 per month discount offered for the first six months.
After that, the plan price jumps to $85.99 per month. It’s a big leap, but it’s still $9 cheaper per month when compared to Optus’ Everyday NBN plan with speeds of 50Mbps. Be aware, however, this discount offer from Dodo ends on May 29, 2026.
If you dive a little deeper and exclude underperforming connections, Exetel comes out on top with the “fastest” overall performance. Here is Exetel’s cheapest (and only) NBN plan in the WhistleOut database:
