The launch was a success but the company was unable to pull off a repeat of its fifth test where giant robot arms caught the rocket’s booster as it fell back to the launchpad, preventing damage and allowing for reuse. SpaceX opted instead for a fiery splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico

  1. I can’t help but wonder what the actual point is in any of this.
If the Milky Way galaxy were the size of the USA, our solar system would fit on the tip of a finger, the sun would be half the size of a red blood cell.
The closest star would take thousands of years to reach.
There are no habitable planets within reach.
So how is any of this profitable, worthy of investment or productive in any way. It’s just an expression of ego and a massive amount of fossil fuels being forced into the air.

  2. SpaceX just released a statement saying an issue happened with the tower on launch.
Most likely the GPS antenna was damaged which relays the boosters position in relation to the tower to the booster and is essential for an accurate catch.

They will most likely ensure this does not happen next flight.

Also Musk said that if they have one more successful ocean landing of Ship, they will attempt a catch of the Ship as well. It's unclear if they will catch it on the same tower the booster will be caught on or their second launch tower.

  3. Yeah United States great job subsidizing private companies to do what the government did much better. Unfortunately when the government run NASA experiments failed there was outrage but with Musk's failure he gets applause. We taxpayers have become a piggy bank for an oligarch.
