Denise Gray had returned to her car with her young children after a trip to a playground near South Village in Kirrawee on Sunday afternoon when she heard something hit her vehicle.
She was then approached by two people who told her something was thrown from a block of apartments above the shopping complex, which Gray later concluded was human excretment.
“It took a few moments to comprehend what had just happened,” she told Nine.com.au.
“Once I understood, I was shocked, disgusted and immediately glad it didn’t hit me or my children.
“I feel I would have had a much more furious reaction if it had got us.”
A fellow resident, who asked not to be identified, said she experienced a similar incident a week ago.
“I was the only one in the car at the time, picking up dinner at the shops to bring it back home,” she said.
“When I realised what had happened I was already driving my car because, in my haste at the time, I honestly hadn’t noticed.
“I felt confused, deflated and upset when I saw it.
“When I shared the news with my husband after getting home he was shocked and kindly offered to clean it up for me because I’m pregnant.”
The woman urged the person responsible to seek help for their behaviour.
“To the person responsible, my message would be to please accept help, or engage with authorities offering support if this is relevant to your situation,” she said.
“However if it is an intentional act and you don’t require support, this ruined my day and the day of others who have been impacted.”
Other residents claimed they witnessed similar incidents where eggs and rotten carrots were thrown at vehicles from above.
A NSW Police spokesperson encouraged anyone with information about such incidents to contact the local police station or Crime Stoppers.
“No reports have been made with police,” a spokesperson said.
“Inquiries with centre management security have confirmed similar incidents have occurred at the location previously.”
South Village Apartments has been contacted for comment.
