Exclusion zone remains in place after truck carrying hazardous material crashes with an allegedly stolen car in Loganlea

Police remain at the scene of a crash between a B-double truck carrying hazardous material and an allegedly stolen car south of Brisbane.

The vehicles collided on the Logan Motorway near Kingston Road in Loganlea at about 8:15pm last night, causing an explosion.

Police allege the two people in the car ran away after the crash and a search is underway to find them.

The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An exclusion zone under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was put in place a short time later.

The PSPA is still in place and applies to a section of the Logan Motorway between Wembley Road, Station Road and Kingston Road.

Diversions are in place and lanes heading east and west have been opened.

Nearby residents have been asked to stay inside with their windows closed.

Police allege the car was stolen from the nearby suburb of Durack after it was involved in a minor two-vehicle collision earlier in the night.
