Police fear missing Perth man may be dead, treating his disappearance as suspicious

Police say they’re now treating the disappearance of a man in Perth as suspicious and fear he may be dead.

A week long probe of a unit in the suburb of Attadale as well as new information has led homicide detectives to investigate if foul play is involved in the case of missing Jayden Selfe, 33.

“Our investigation at that premises and other information that we have received over the last 24 hours have indicated we are very concerned for the welfare of Mr Selfe,” WA Police Commander Col Blanch said.

“We have found something that suggests he was there and we have concerns for his welfare.

“I don’t want to rule out that he may be alive but certainly the information we have would suggest harm may have come to Mr Selfe.”

Selfe last came in contact with those known to him in mid-May.

Major crime detectives were notified in August, with new information leading forensic investigators to a Money Road unit late last week.

Police have been at the property since last Thursday.

There’s no suggestion that the owner of the unit is involved in any wrong-doing.

“We did not tell the public what we were looking for cause quite frankly we had information that was not verified or validated,” Blanch said.

Exactly what police have found hasn’t been revealed.

At this stage no-one is in custody over the disappearance.

“Let’s find Mr Selfe and what’s happened to him and then the investigation will go from there,” Blanch said.
