Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie says “half the problems in politics” comes from the government spending big on investigating key issues then shelving the recommendations handed down at its conclusion.

She told Sky News what she wanted to see at the Morrison government’s women’s safety summit was whether there had been studies held into women’s issues in the past “where he hasn’t implemented the recommendations”.

“This is half the problem in politics, you do these inquiries, you do these studies, you pay out a lot of money for this and then those recommendations go on the shelf,” Ms Lambi said.

  1. Only Australia bring this kinda drama to the public. I thought they would be smarter than that instead of some political benefit. Bring up a problem to create comedy for the whole world to see about Australian politicians. 😉 If there is a problem inside your house. Close the door and talk to each others. End of the day, not just one guy become a joke. But the whole government became a joke. 😉

  2. "HALF,"…… everything they do is the problem. Like president Reagan said,…"Government is not the solution it's the problem."

  3. People still don't understand that govt doesn't work for them. They never have. And when it comes to women. There's rapists in parliament that aren't even being investigated. So obviously this has nothing to do with protecting women.

  4. Andrew Laming continues his position as a LNP MP in parliament even after being exposed for having several F)b accounts used to assault women….😠
Tell me again who Hawaiian Scott and his tag a longs are protecting…🤬

  5. Lambie is on the money with this one. All governments – state, federal, LNP or Labour use the inquiries as a way of dodging action or making contentious decisions. Look at the banking inquiry – how many of its recommendations have been put into practice and enforced? Enquiry = we don't have the spine to act

  6. Recommendations that are good for the people go on the shelf in the US.
Recommendations like defunding the police and surveillance state that are bad for the people are signed into law FAST.
    So goes politics.
