Zero humanitarian visas issued to Palestinians fleeing Gaza

The Federal government has come under fire for rejecting nearly twice as many visas as its granted for Palestinians fleeing Gaza, while revealing the number of humanitarian visas it has issued is zero.

Since October 7 more than 2,600 Palestinians have been granted tourist visas. Around 1,000 have entered Australia – the visas valid for 12 months with no work, study or medical care access.

In comparison, more than 5,000 humanitarian visas were issued to Afghans after the fall of Kabul, and 4,877 for Ukranians fleeing Russia’s invasion. Both the 786 and 449 visas grant a three-year-stay with work, study rights and access to Medicare.
