Victoria premier Daniel Andrews takes swipe at NSW for not implementing ‘ring of steel’ in lockdown

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews has taken a swipe at the lockdown measures implemented in New South Wales as his government tightened restrictions for people applying for permits to enter Victoria from red zones throughout Australia. ‘They’re not locked into Sydney so they must be locked out of Victoria’, Andrews said. ‘I remind you all we had a ring of steel around Melbourne last year and it didn’t just protect country Victoria, it protected the whole country.’ When asked by a reporter if he would like New South Wales to introduce a ring of steel, Andrews said ‘That’s a matter for them. I don’t want to see more cases from Sydney.’

  1. This is from Google in regards to "State of Emergency"
A state of emergency derives from a governmental declaration made in response to an extraordinary situation posing a fundamental threat to the country. … States of emergency are not uncommon occurrences, particularly in dictatorial regimes where the state of emergency may endure as long as the regime lasts
This is unedited, uncut and just coped and pasted from Google. Victoria may come out of this lockdown, but the SOE?… Probably not. It's already been extended for another 12 months, so—- figure it out for yourself. The State of Emergency can also override the Constitution and common rights [such as rights to free movement for example].

  2. Victoria will be out of lockdown most likely end of next week. NSW will still be at the same case nunbers as when they started. Someone tell Glady that doing a bit here and a bit there doesn't work. The whole state will be closed by end of the month!

  3. And yet Andrews managed to fly in and out of QLD and ACT during last year's lockdown many, many times while the rest of us remained trapped in our homes and the only people who died were in aged care where no-one was allowed to visit. You're not a hero Dan.
