Ukraine reveals motive of surprise attacks on Russia | Hamas rejects Gaza ceasefire & hostage deal

▷ Ukraine says it has destroyed another key bridge in Russia’s Kursk region, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed the intent behind the attacks. Zelenskyy says the military incursion into Russian territory is aimed at creating a buffer zone. Russia is continuing its campaign on several fronts inside Ukraine.

▷ US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says this could be ‘the last opportunity’ to secure a ceasefire and hostage release deal in Gaza. Mr Blinken met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Monday during his ninth trip to the region since the conflict began. The US has expressed cautious optimism about a deal, but Hamas says any suggestions of progress are an ‘illusion’.

▷ Musicians in Australia have expressed concern about how artificial intelligence is being used in the industry, and how it might affect their future earnings. Artists say they want to safeguard their work and be fairly paid for it.
