‘This is a shocking disappointment’ – says Australian PM about ball-tampering incident

Australian cricketers have admitted ball-tampering. The batsman Cameron Bancroft said that he attempted to tamper with the ball and his captain, Steve Smith, added that the team’s senior players planned it. The Australian prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, said, he was ‘shocked’ and ‘disappointed’ with the news. He said he had expressed his concerns to the Cricket Australia chairman, David Peever.’I have expressed to him very clearly and unequivocally my disappointment and my concern about the events in South Africa,’ Turnbull said. ‘How can our team be engaged in cheating like this? It beggars belief,’ he added.

  1. I can understand the reactions. But no one has the right to call the Aussies cheats and not others. People are criticizing Smith, Warner and Bancroft only because they were punished brutally for their actions and no other country has had the gall to do that to their own players. Hats off to Cricket Australia. But calling these guys cheats is not fair.

  2. I despise Aussie attitude. Yes they are arrogant and rude. But even the fierce aussie critic in me welcomes the manner in which Australia as a nation has condemned this shameful chapter in the world of cricket. Good Job Aussies.

  3. run the country ye scumbag, Cheating scumbags always were always will be, I hate Aussie sports of all codes because of this stupid attitude that you have to win at all costs. Shame Shame Shame! 6. I can understand it being an excruciating and very expensive experience, however even an Oscar for an ocean of crocodile tears won't placate this mess, so a word of advice to the new guys "don't even think about scratch your balls in South Africa)
