Russia captures key Ukrainian town after two years of Ukrainian resistance

Russia has captured the Ukrainian town Vuhledar in the country’s eastern Donetsk region.

Moscow’s soldiers surrounded the town, which has been under attack since the start of the war, forcing Ukrainian troops to retreat to avoid becoming trapped.

A critical supply hub, the town’s capture is Russia’s most significant territorial gain in weeks – and bolster’s the country’s campaign to advance further north.
