Koalas living in the path of a massive bushfires are taken to safety

A population of genetically important koalas are living directly in the line of a massive bushfire burning in the Blue Mountains’ Kanangra-Boyd National Park. A group of veterinarians from Science for Wildlife and Taronga Zoo have carried out a rescue operation to make sure the koalas will be safe from oncoming blazes. Three adult male and five adult females, four of which have joeys, will be cared for by the Taronga Wildlife Hospital until it is safe for them to be returned to the wild.

  1. Tilapia fish skin is being used on burn victims in Brazil! Maybe it would be useful to research it and try it on these little guys! So heart breaking! It's been effective on human burns!

  2. think about what happen after the fire, there are no solutions to the fire…it will happen again than what? the Koala population will shrink even further!!! do something about the climate FFS

  3. I hope Australia keep showering ocean water to their forests to keep the trees and places wet with their jet planes. Infact the fire prone areas where rains are scanty and take long to come must be showered with jet water time to time to stop such disasters to happen again.

  4. Solution for future >>

  5. Oh.my.gosh, I grew up with koalas in the trees in my primary school. Brings tears to my eyes knowing how helpless they are in bushfires. Amazing people doing this job. The current Morrison government has failed to respond to this disaster in a timely and satisfactory manner and must be held accountable. While Australia was burning, the PM went on holiday to Hawaii – what sort of leader does that?! It's a national embarrassment

  6. I don't know why the uk hasn't at least sent a few dozen soldiers to help with evacuation's at least. I wouldn't like to throw people into such a dangerous place but those people and animals could use a hand.
