Israel’s ‘extensive’ strikes as Hezbollah continues attacks | Mideast dominates UN General Assembly

▷ The death toll in Lebanon has risen to 569 as Israel carried out a second day of strikes around the country.

Lebanon’s foreign minister saying the number of people displaced by the attacks is now approaching half a million. Israel says it’s dealt Hezbollah devastating blows. But the group is still firing back.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong is urging Israel to comply with international law and warns Australia would not support a ground invasion in Lebanon.

▷ On the first day of leaders’ speeches to the United Nations General Assembly Israel’s strikes on Lebanon and the war in Gaza dominated. US President Joe Biden was one of them, in his last speech to the UN, calling on nations to band together.
