  1. Perhaps the percentage of government competency should be set to increase and monitored each year. If targets are not achieved, then a penalty wage reduction could be implemented for all politicians.

  2. Of course sales of EV's can rise to 100%, it's just a matter of incentive. Government increases penalties, manufacturers increase ICE cars prices until people start buying EV's. If you have a choice of a gas VW Polo for 40K or e-Polo for 20K, what will you choose?

  3. It will be will cheaper to fix your old car than buy electric so I guess they will have to impose a special tax on those who refuse to go along with madness. My car is 18 years old has a hundred and ten thousand miles on the clock and runs just fine. I'll be keeping it for as long as possible whatever and won't be buying an EV.

  4. So it's really just a carbon/luxury/penalty tax on every petrol vehicle. An extra $15k – $18k per vehicle. Ripping the customer more than ever. Price the poor man out of the market and jack up inflation, too. Used car market will thrive – and then you'll pay exorbitant rates for your registration/licensing for your petrol vehicle.

Bison are good for storing CO2? Cows must be, too! No need to cut back on meat, then.

  5. Making ICE vehicles "rarer" is maybe a ploy to take Cars entirely away from societies, and we would then either HAVE to rely on Public Transport, which would be crazy for most People who WORK (busses and trains Rarely go to the places of your employment or at the Times you work) or some kind of Taxi/ Uber system that the Government owns. I live 10 minutes away from the Factory I work in, and there are NO Busses to there at 6 AM. Or is this the Other push the UK has looked at for a while of 15 minute cities, put you on a Push bike to get to and from work etc.

  6. On the C4 news they looked at EVs cost per mile.
    Home charging =7p per mile.
ICE cars average = 17p per mile.
EV fast charging points = 22p per mile.
The reality is starting to hit. Long distance EV travle ether takes far to long or is more expensive than ICE.

  7. EVs just move the pollution to the power stations.
They effectively just cleen up city/ town air.
Good public transport systems would keep the ICE out of the cities having the same effect.
Mandatory EVs will make little difference to the climate change!

  8. You could take the customer to the showrooms in chauffeur driven limousine, but you cannot make them buy the EV car they do not want!
The government law will just put car manufacturing workers out of work and they will just join the mine workers who never worked again!

  9. Time to get rid of the Government. Government intervention has proven in the past to be in error. Government should accept its role is to inform the Public, not force at this stage. It is clear EVs will continue to improve and become the vehicle of choice. Let this happen in the market place and when the electricity infrastructure is suitable (updated/renewable) start pushing.

  10. If humans could actually increase the global average temperature by emitting more CO2 in the air, it would save lives. More people die of cold weather than warm weather. Greenland would be open for business again.

  11. my dads gf just got brand new diesel, she did try brand new petrol but changed it in few weeks for brand new diesel so now she added basically two ice cars to road and 2nd hand one with very low miles and her current. she had no interest going ev and on top of overhearing me talking to my dad on just how much ev costs on public network and way more cost for ev over petrol and diesel you add extra 20-40mpg on top petrol so she sure was not going ev now she have that for next 3-5 years and if she likes it prob just keep car

  12. Here's what I put on facebook when this bison nonsense turned up in the Guardian:
    — Apparently the Guardian has now completely forgotten that ungulate herbivores such as bison and cattle digest grass using anaerobic fermentation and hence produce the "potent greenhouse gas" methane. (their words)

I'm not bothered about that. But I thought that THEY were. At least that's something that they have been going on and on about for about the last 30 years!!

Nope!! Bison will now save the planet. So I assume that cattle will save the planet in a similar manner.

Wow, sometimes I struggle to keep up with the official truth from reputable sources (a.k.a. what some simpleton journalists are buying into this week). —

  13. in some way this could be a good thing, if it makes people hold on to their cars longer rather than trading in for the latest thing every 2 years. may even make people a bit more careful knowing that it might be hard to get a replacement if crashed. Keeps the spare parts industry and repair/mechanics alive for longer as well, plus less consumption of raw materials? Dunno, silver lining maybe? Probably not.
