Sydney woman facing life behind bars after allegedly trying to smuggle $36.7 million of meth


A search allegedly found 20kg of white powder in vacuum-sealed bags, with the second suitcase allegedly containing 19kg of the same substance in similar packaging.

Presumptive testing of the powder came back positive for methamphetamine, with 39kg of the drug found in the suitcases.

The total value of the methamphetamine is around $36.7 million.

She has now been charged with one count of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug and one count of possessing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.
