NSW police believe they have discovered the body of a six-year-old girl who went missing from the state’s south coast over the weekend.
Airlie Montgomery went missing from the North Nowra area on Sunday afternoon, where temperatures encroached 35 degrees.
The six-year-old was last seen about 2.15pm wearing a hot pink jumpsuit.
When she could not be located, officers attached to South Coast Police District were called and commenced a wide-scale search of the area to find her.
Police said her family were particularly concerned due to her young age and several medical conditions.
Police said a body was located during the search near where Airlie went missing about 6pm on Sunday.
“While it is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the missing girl,” NSW police said in a statement.
An investigation into the incident has commenced
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
