Rosie O’Donnell makes shock confession about actor Keanu Reeves in new interview with comedian Sam Pang

Australian comedian Sam Pang is making international waves following a controversial confession from his celebrity guest.

The buzz began on Wednesday when American talk show legend Rosie O’Donnell, who is currently touring Australia, appeared on Sam Pang Tonight.

O’Donnell hosted The Rosie O’Donnell Show for six seasons from 1996 to 2002, during which she interviewed countless A-list celebrities.

But during her sit-down with Pang, she revealed which guests were her absolute favourites — and which ones missed the mark.

When asked about her most memorable interviews, O’Donnell warmly named Barbra Streisand and Martin Short as standout favourites across her 1,000-episode run.

However, it was her choice for least favourite that stunned viewers and ignited headlines around the world.

“I love the guy, but he’s not good on talk shows — Keanu Reeves,” she admitted.

“He’s so sweet. He looks gorgeous. I love all his movies, but he would not answer a question,” she explained, recalling a frustrating live segment. “I’d say, ‘So, Keanu, how’s it going? How you feeling?’ (He’d say) ‘Good.’”

O’Donnell continued: “And finally, after like eight minutes — we were live, we couldn’t retape — I finally said, ‘Keanu, it is a talk show. You have to talk.’ But he did come back and he got the hang of it”.

Her blunt but humorous recount drew gasps and laughter from both Pang and the live studio audience.

O’Donnell clarified she wasn’t attacking the beloved actor.

“He’s a lovely man and a good-hearted guy. I’m not throwing him under the bus… he’s just not built for talk shows,” she said.

The candid moment quickly caught the attention of overseas media with O’Donnell’s cheeky takedown of Reeves making headlines across the US and putting Pang, who hosted the Logies this year, in the spotlight.

Earlier in the segment, O’Donnell said it was her first time in Australia and that everyone had been so “lovely, kind and welcoming” but warned “I can’t do the accent and I’d like to apologise if I do it tonight”.

She also touched on her outspoken views of US President Donald Trump during Pang’s segment of Fact or Fiction, where O’Donnell dropped another truth bomb revealing she’d attended one of Trump’s weddings.

The audience responded with shocked gasps but O’Donnell quickly explained she attended as a friend’s plus-one and it was well before their very public feud started in 2007.

O’Donnell also shared the secret to her successful talk show.

“We had cakes and milk on every seat when the people came in,” O’Donnell said.

“So we got them sugared up … and we gave away free crap. People love a free t-shirt. “
