Powerball’s $100 million winner still a mystery one week after eye-watering win

One week after an eye-watering $100 million Powerball jackpot went off, the mystery winner remains at large.

The new multi-millionaire has yet to claim their fortune from last Thursday’s Powerball for which more than 10 million tickets were sold across the country.

The winning entry was purchased at Bondi Junction Newsagency & Internet Cafe on Oxford St in Bondi Junction.

The winner was not registered to The Lott Members Club and there is no way to contact them.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1517 are: 28, 10, 3, 16, 31, 14 and 21. The Powerball is 6.

“With a winning entry tucked away in their car, wallet, or stuck on their fridge door, one NSW player is walking around completely oblivious to the fact their life has forever changed,” The Lott spokesperson Eliza Wregg said.

“There are 100 million reasons why Sydney’s eastern suburbs players should check their tickets today.

“Imagine discovering you’re suddenly a multi-millionaire. You could immediately retire, take the trip of your dreams, or spoil those nearest and dearest to you.”

The lucky ticket holder is urged to contact The Lott to check their numbers and collect their winnings.

What happens if the money is not collected?

If prize money is not collected, it is usually transferred to the winning state’s revenue office and held for a period of time — but how long differs between states.

NSW has a deadline of six years after which winners will be no longer be able to claim their money.

Queensland has a deadline of seven years, while in Western Australia money is held for just 12 months before it is redistributed back to the community.

Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria have no time limits for winners to claim their prize money which is held indefinitely.

“We are in the business of paying prizes and we can’t wait to unite our winners with their windfalls, so we urge all players to check their tickets,” Wregg said.

“In NSW players have up to six years to claim their prizes, so there’s plenty of time, but we’d love to speak to our incredible winner as soon as possible.”

Bondi Junction Newsagency & Internet Cafe owner Manish said his team was excited to hear they had sold the winning ticket.

“This is by far the biggest winning entry we’ve ever sold. The team are thrilled to hear the winning news. I’ll be rewarding the particular staff member who sold the winning ticket, too,” he said.

“I’m hoping it’s one of our regular customers but you never know it could be a tourist too. We’re located right next to the closest station to Bondi Beach, so you never know.

“We wish our winner all the best and all the luck. We hope this win transforms your life in a positive way.”
