Police hunt man who fled stolen car after crashing, injuring man, in Pimpama, Gold Coast


A man has been injured after a stolen car crashed with a van, causing it to roll, on a major Gold Coast highway.

The stolen white Mitsubishi Outlander was driving on the M1 when it collided with a van at Pimpama about 5am on Tuesday.

The van rolled, trapping the 58-year-old driver, before he was freed and treated by paramedics.

He was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

“The occupants of the Mitsubishi fled the scene,” police told 7NEWS.com.au.

“The Mitsubishi was stolen from an address on the Gold Coast Hwy, Palm Beach, sometime between 9pm Monday night and 5am Tuesday.

“Investigations continue.”

One lane of the highway was initially blocked, causing peak hour commuter chaos, however, all four southbound lanes of the highway were reopened soon after.
