Person plummets eight stories after falling from 2KW Bar and Restaurant in the heart of Adelaide

A man has died after falling from the popular 2KW Bar and Restaurant in Adelaide’s CBD.

Emergency services were called to King William Street, near the corner of North Terrace, at about 4pm on Sunday after reports an individual had fallen from the popular rooftop bar eight storeys up.

Three police vehicles, two ambulances and four Metropolitan Fire Services assets attended the scene, with crews blocking off the intersection near the CBD’s northern border for several hours.

The Adelaide Advertiser reported that police dusted for fingerprints at the rooftop bar.

Located on the eighth floor of the heritage-listed former bank, 2KW is a popular rooftop bar which boasts views of the city, Adelaide Oval, the River Torrens, and the parkland to the city’s north.

The bar’s owner Martin Palmer has previously described the site as an “iconic” destination that showcases the city.

“People from Adelaide, when they have interstate or overseas guests, they take them to 2KW because (the view) is iconic and showcases the city,” Mr Palmer told the Advertiser.

South Australia Police released a statement just before 6pm confirming King Willian Street had been reopened.
