Matt “Shirvo” Shirvington’s attempt at a new skill on Sunrise this morning has gone horribly wrong.
To celebrate the world’s largest beer festival, Oktoberfest, Shirvo and his co-host Nat Barr attempted to carry the traditional beer mugs called steins on Friday.
“Let’s talk about shifting some steins, because there is a technique,” Shirvo said, quietly confident.

“You have to take as many as you can, in one go, how do we do it?”
Bartender Kai Morgan from Munich Brauhaus — a German themed bar at The Rocks in Sydney — demonstrated for the TV hosts, revealing, “you have to keep your wrist nice and straight and elbow at 90 degrees”.
Morgan confirmed there was one litre of beer in each mug, as Barr and Shirvo bravely attempted to carry five steins in each hand.

The Oompah Loompah Band was playing music in the background, setting the scene for a jolly morning of fun and drinking, and Shirvo appeared very confident as he danced along while juggling the beers in each hand.
Barr successfully served her beers to Sunrise sports presenter Mark Beretta and weekend co-host Monique Wright.
But as Shirvo danced over with his beers, the former sprinter misjudged how packed the table was and missed, sending his jugs of beers smashing to the ground.
“This is the best German party ever,” Beretta joked, unfazed by the pools of beer on the floor.

Shirvo didn’t let his failed attempt of stein-serving dampen the party mood, as he continued to dance along with a beer in hand.
The festival is held in Munich, Germany, over 16 days to celebrate Bavarian culture with beer and food.
However, it has also become a popular celebration in Australia.
“Across Australia, thousands are celebrating Bavarian culture with a brew, a brass band, a schnitzel, and a sausage,” Shirvo revealed before his beer juggling attempt.
“Why do Aussies love Oktoberfest so much?”
Bartender Morgan said: “I think we all know Aussies love a beer — it’s a beer festival, after all. It’s a great opportunity to dress up and head to the pub with mates.”
