A man has been charged over a string of vile antisemitic graffiti incidents in Sydney’s south and east earlier this year.
NSW Police were called to multiple locations in Sydney’s east on Thursday, January 20 including a school, a home and a shopping centre, following reports of malicious damage.
Attending Orthodox Jewish primary school Mount Sinai College in Maroubra, officers found the vile phrase “Jews are real terrorists” was painted on a wall of the carpark at the school.
Similar phrases were scrawled across the white wall of a nearby Hannan St home, with “F*** the Jews” and “you f***ing Jews” spray painted in black.
On the same day, officers were called to a home on Sparks Street, Eastlakes, following reports of alleged antisemitic graffiti.
A NSW Police task force to counter antisemitism commenced inquiries following the offensive attacks, which they found were linked.
After extensive inquiries, Strike Force detectives on Thursday arrested a 41-year-old man on Maloney Street, Eastlakes.
A 41-year-old man has been charged over multiple antisemitic graffiti offences across Sydney’s east and south.
Police allegedly located and seized multiple prohibited drugs during a search.
He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with multiple offences related to damage, driving and drugs.
He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Friday.
The charges come as Strike Force Pearl detectives have now arrested 30 people and laid a total of 151 charges, with investigations continuing.
