A major search is under way for a snorkeller who disappeared in waters north of Perth.
Police were called to Ledge Point at 3pm yesterday after the 32-year-old man went missing.
It is understood he had been snorkelling with friends at the time.
PolAir, water police, volunteer marine rescue and local boaties have banded together to look for the man.
Local residents told 9News they saw several snorkellers over the past week attempting to catch crayfish from the underwater rock ledges that the area is known for.
Ledge Point resident Neville Paull said there was a large police presence in the area.
“Everybody has put effort in, a few locals put their boats in the water and had look around,” Paull said.
Local Nic Sofoulis said he watched as helicopters and boats joined in the search.
“Unfortunately there hasn’t been any sightings of anything yet,” he said.
The search will continue along the beach and coastline today.
