TV host and comedian Julia Morris has made a bold request of Australian airlines, after revealing she and her teenage daughters were left feeling unsafe after “crossing paths with a creep on a recent flight”.
In response to the unsettling experience, Morris proposed that airlines introduce women-only seating sections, saying the move would help female passengers feel safer and more comfortable when flying.
“Please consider a women-only section on your planes,” Morris posted on Instagram last week, tagging Qantas, Virgin Australia and Jetstar airlines.

“We don’t feel safe with men telling us to crawl over them on flights, while they ignore women’s personal space.”
Alongside the request, Morris posted a series of pictures — including one that appeared to show an unclean toilet on an airline.
In the caption, she went on to say, “I won’t even mention the state of the toilets” suggesting that men were to blame for creating a mess in them. She also clarified that her post isn’t directed at “all men, but why so many?”.
Morris offered a potential solution: “Give us the back section. Or at least a few rows of female only seats.”
She ended her post by encouraging women to “stand up to creeps on flights”.
“Women are OVER it,” Morris declared.
The I’m A Celebrity host shared the suggestion with her followers, questioning when it became socially acceptable to expect strangers to awkwardly clamber past seated passengers instead of standing up to let them through.
While many followers supported the idea — with TV presenter Shelly Horton commenting that “it got her vote” and comedian Yvie Jones saying “she’d fly more often” if there were female-only sections — others disagreed.
Some critics called the suggestion unfair, claiming Morris was blaming male passengers when “maybe the onus is on people being decent human beings”.
One follower simply commented, “I really like you Julia but wtf?”.
Morris responded directly to that user, explaining that she and her teenage daughters had “crossed paths with a creep on a recent flight”.
“It was beyond stressful & it occurred to me that I’m never that close in proximity to men I don’t know, to the point I can feel their skin on mine,” Morris continued.
“Not all men as I said. But way too many men.
“Women only section would be an option. If you are not into it, then don’t choose it.
“But as you can see from the comments, plenty of women have experienced a creep on a flight. Jx”
