Grass fire breaks out next to Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine


A large grass fire has erupted next to Melbourne Airport.

The grass fire broke out on Loemans Rd at Bulla, which backs on to the northwest corner of the airport near Tullamarine, at 2.53pm on Tuesday.

“Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads,” the Victoria Country Fire Authority said.

“Keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.”

No flights have been affected at this stage, Melbourne Airport told 7NEWS.com.au.

The airport is monitoring the situation, as emergency services attend the blaze.
