Thirty-eight patients have been contacted for follow-up care since their scans were reviewed, it said.

Metro North Health has not revealed the details of the conditions or health of the 38 patients, citing patient privacy and confidentiality.
However, the hospital previously said a dedicated clinical team would review scans from surgical, cardiac, respiratory and paediatric patients who were referred to the Specialist Outpatient Department and underwent imaging between April 1, 2023, and September, 4, 2025.
Metro North Health apologised to affected patients and said Caboolture Hospital had since “strengthened its processes to ensure a rigorous approach to medical imaging review is upheld by all clinicians”.
Metro North Health chief medical officer Dr Elizabeth Rushbrook said changes to procedures at the outpatient clinic led to the bungle.
She said scans were available to doctors both electronically and as hard copies, but in April 2023, hard copies became distributed inconsistently to the outpatient department.
Health Minister Tim Nicholls said the review found no further deaths.
The issues at Caboolture came to light in the same week that an investigation was launched into shortfalls at Townsville University Hospital’s urology services, where it is feared hundreds of patients might have missed out on critical care.
