Woman arrested after allegedly striking former partner with car in Canberra’s north



A Canberra woman has been arrested after allegedly twice trying to run over her former partner in suburban Canberra.

Police said two children were with their 30-year-old mother in a car when the alleged incident happened in Dickson on Monday.

The woman, accompanied by the children, had met with her former partner near the Dickson pool at about 12pm, according to police.

“The two had a conversation before the woman got into her car and drove at him, narrowly missing him,” police said in a statement.

“The woman allegedly reversed the vehicle and drove at him a second time, striking him in the hand and ribs.

“The woman and her children left the scene and police were called.”

Police later arrested the woman at her home in the nearby suburb of O’Connor.

The woman was charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated property damage, and driving offences. 

She was expected to appear in the the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
