A British rapper and YouTube personality has appeared in court to face allegations he raped and strangled a woman after performing at a Perth nightclub during his Australian tour.
Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was arrested in Brisbane this week by WA sex assault squad detectives who travelled there so he could be extradited back to Perth.
It’s alleged the 29-year-old sexually assaulted a woman in her 20’s in his Perth hotel room after he had performed at the nightclub Bar120, in the city’s northern suburbs on Saturday, September 28.
The 29-year-old has been charged with four counts of sexual penetration without consent and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He’s also facing a charge of “impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to their neck”.
He was represented in the Perth Magistrates Court this morning by top-flight barrister Seamus Rafferty SC.
He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court this morning after being held in custody.
The hearing has since been adjourned so the magistrate could consider Mr Barrientos’s lawyer’s application for bail.
Supporters of the rapper were in court this morning.
As Yung Filly, Mr Barrientos has several million followers on his various social platforms and has placed two songs the UK Top 40 singles chart.
