South Morang man charged with murder after death of Nikkita Azzopardi

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 33-year-old man after a woman was found dead in Melbourne’s north-east on Monday morning.

The body of Nikkita Azzopardi, aged 35, was discovered by family members at a home in Reid Street, South Morang, with emergency services called to the address at about 10am yesterday.

Investigators charged a South Morang man on Tuesday afternoon with one count of murder.

Ms Azzopardi’s brother Shaun yesterday remembered his sister as a gentle soul and a great listener who would help anyone.

“She didn’t see the bad in people, always saw the good,” he said.

The man charged over her death has been scheduled to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
