Man assisting homicide police investigating suspicious death of woman after body found in Bourke

Homicide detectives are assisting an investigation into the discovery of a woman’s partially naked body on a road in Far West New South Wales.

Police found the body of the 47-year-old near her home on Parkdale Road near Bourke just after 8am on Tuesday.

Specialist police are treating the incident as suspicious.

Officers say the woman is yet to be formally identified but a 49-year-old man known to her is assisting them.

Police say the woman’s family is travelling to Bourke to speak with police.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, particularly if they have dash cam or mobile phone footage from the area at the time.

Meanwhile community members have paid tribute to the woman on social media.

“Devastated by the news. Rest in peace Aunty. Sending love and strength to all,” one person wrote.

“Won’t ever forget that cheeky smile,” another tribute said.

“Fond memories of time spent together inside and out,” said another.

“The world will never be as bright without you.”
