Donald Trump has won the US presidential election twice, and lost once. Take a look at how his results compare.
2016: Trump defeats Hillary Clinton in shock victory
When Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton, he called this his “beautiful map”.
He also called the result a “massive landslide”. That wasn’t true.
However, he did win comprehensively by 306 votes to 232 in the Electoral College, despite losing the popular vote to Clinton.
2020: Joe Biden flips the map on Trump
By defeating Trump in the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden pulled off the first defeat of a sitting president in nearly three decades.
Biden’s win wasn’t a landslide either, but one thing he did have over Trump was a win in the nationwide popular vote as well as the Electoral College.
2024: Trump wins swings across the country to defeat Kamala Harris
Here’s the latest state of play with the 2024 map of election results.
There may be a handful of states still undecided, but Trump has already passed the mark of 270 Electoral College votes needed to secure his return to the White House.
He picked up a swing right across the country, and looks to be headed for a win in the popular vote. That will be a first across Trump’s three campaigns.
