Dogs midfielder Jack Macrae has requested a trade to St Kilda, but that deal appears to be no certainty at this stage.
According to Sam Edmund, St Kilda has offered pick 47 to the Dogs, who want pick 27 instead.
The latest on Shai Bolton’s move to Fremantle
There is a bit of a back-and-forth happening between Richmond and Fremantle over the deal for Shai Bolton as well.
According to Sam Edmund, Fremantle has so far offered picks 10 and 18 for Bolton, but Richmond are holding out for picks 10 and 11.
Bailey Smith draft threat very real amid trade impasse
The likelihood of Geelong walking Bailey Smith to the draft looks to be getting more and more real as the days pass.
Here’s SEN’s Sam Edmund with the latest on where negotiations between the Cats and Bulldogs currently stand.
“Dogs are talking tough, Cats are offering 17, the Dogs want a pick in the single figures,” he told Trade Radio.
“His management says, walk him to the draft, no one will take him in the top 10 due to the nature of this years draft being strong.”
Carlton locks down Jacob Weitering on monster extension
Some big non-trade news this morning as well as Jacob Weitering re-signs with Carlton on a six-year extension.
“Carlton made a significant investment in me in 2015, and I couldn’t imagine playing football anywhere else,” Weitering said in a club statement this morning.
“I have always wanted to be a one-club player, and I feel like I have grown up alongside my teammates in my nine years here.
“When I first started at the club, we went through some tough times, but I couldn’t be more confident in the stability and direction of the football club as we head into the coming years. It has taken a lot of hard work as a collective to get to this point and that hard work is far from over.”
Crows-Demons pick swap expected to lead to Essendon trade
Essendon’s trade with Melbourne centered around its first-round pick in this year’s draft (currently No.9) was widely reported over the weekend.
According to AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey, the deal between Melbourne and Adelaide is a precursor to the Dees’ deal with the Bombers being finalised.
Essendon is trying to acquire as many late picks as possible to absorb what is expected to be an early bid for gun academy prospect Isaac Kako.
