Brisbane’s most famous Blue Heeler is making the leap from television to video games, with a local team creating an interactive adventure that brings Bluey’s world to life on consoles.
Bluey’s Happy Snaps launches in spring, sending players on adventures taking Polaroid pictures around Brisbane’s iconic locations.

“For the first time, you’re going to be able to explore the world of Bluey and Bingo,” Gameloft Brisbane’s Manea Castet said.
The game features recognisable Brisbane landmarks including Southbank, Mount Coot-tha and New Farm Park. Artists visited the locations, sketched the magic and headed back to their own Bluey’s World at Gameloft’s Brisbane headquarters.
“So you might recognise this from the episode The Sign,” developers explained while showcasing familiar scenes being transformed for gameplay.
Taking memorable moments for viewers, the team is creating interactive scenes for players. The full development team includes artists, concept artists, animators, programmers, designers, production and QA staff all working together to bring Bluey to life.
The stakes are high. Bluey was America’s most streamed television show last year, and the video game industry is even bigger dollarbucks.
“We hope this game to be really as big as the TV show, of course,” Castet said.
True to Bluey’s values, there’s also a deeper meaning behind the game. The hope is that kids and parents will play together, first on a console, then in real life.
“We don’t want it to be like a digital nanny. We want this game to create some life-lasting memories,” Castet said.
