Heavily-armed officers yesterday raided three rural properties in the Lara, Gisborne and Thomastown areas and seized 11 firearms and a large quantity of drugs.
The confiscated weapons included homemade firearms, imitation guns and a gel blaster along with firearm parts and ammunition.
Police units involved in the raids included the bomb response unit and the special operations group.
Footage from the property at Lara, north-east of Geelong, showed police deploying robots and drones.
Four men from the local area were arrested.
Today two men, aged 54 and 38, were charged with weapons and drugs charges. They are due to appear in court at a later date.
A 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old man are expected to be charged with firearms offences.
Police say yesterday’s operation was as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged syndicate linked to trafficking and manufacturing drugs and firearms.
