The annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York is held to mark the opening of the museum’s annual spring exhibition.
The exclusive, invite-only event draws a guest list of celebrities, designers and cultural heavyweights, all dressed to a specific theme.
This year’s theme is Costume Art, with the dress code Fashion is Art.
The 2026 gala will be co-chaired by music icon Beyoncé, Australian actress Nicole Kidman, sporting legend Venus Williams and former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
While the gala itself is notoriously secretive and cameras are forbidden inside the venue, it is one of the most anticipated red carpets of the year.
The Met Gala kicks off at 8am AEST on Tuesday.
