  1. Way too harsh on the English performances. Two great games that were very closely contested. A lot more positives than negatives. After listening to this podcast you’d swear England performance was poor?

  2. I'm not English, so I don't feel obliged to crucify the England team when they lose. But if you look at the two games England has played this Autumn series, against Australia and New Zealand, they have been the two most entertaining games of rugby by far this series. England haven't played rugby this entertaining possibly ever. Remember England are still recovering from the Eddie Jones train wreck too. They're playing some great rugby and they're making some mistakes. Still way better than playing shit rugby and losing. Get around your team.

  3. England are just a basic standard that a rugby team need to be at. To be in the top 5, you need to go on and beyond the bog standard; have flair, take opportunities as they happen and take the opposition by surprise (non of which England have and/or do).

  4. Great video analysis. Just some feedback on the Pacific surnames. It would be nice to try and pronounce these names correctly. It’s not pronounced Sa-i-l-i or has an ongoing stutter. Think of it phonetically – Su-ar-lee-e. Andrew said it well. You’ll no doubt hear his name more often.

  5. Thinking that the ex-Boks coaches (now former-England) realized that the fundamentals required for the Blitz defence/attack/conditioning weren't available to them… situational awareness, lack of defense nous at 13, squad depth … and the insane sustained sprint-based conditioning required for the back line.

  6. Enjoyed the pod. Agree with the concluding remarks about post-match honesty – eg. SB should’ve said he was wrong to change fly-half. That should feedback into the group in a positive way. IMHO Borthwick, in fairness to him, more or less has the players fans clamoured for: Furbank, Smith, Feyi-Waboso, Ben Earl, Freeman, etc. But they are not being well coached. Big loss to the Boks and I think SB’s future is in trouble. The honeymoon was over after the World Cup and walk-through group we had.

  7. I think Rob Baxter should have gotten the job post-Eddie. The 2 Smiths are the tens that will take represent England at the 2027 RWC, move on from Ford, Dan Cole is another one that needs to be replaced. Both him and Ford have done their job in the white jumper.

  8. England very negative about this game but the game is completely in the bag with 40 seconds to go before Itoje? drops the kickoff cold and lets Australia back in.

  9. England a bit rusty. Blits defence takes time, and if you get it wrong or just formulaic, you’re done. They have to stick with it. They try to play too much rugby. Need to rather dial it back and play a more boring but winning brand. I think the self congratulations of the team actually motivate their opposition.

A lot of the above is on Borthwhick – he seems to be following a formula rather than creating a system within which the players can operate and respond to the situation naturally. The Smith / Ford substitution was not intuitive game management.

England have to be able to play a kicking game. I think to much emphasis is on your running attack game.

  10. George isn't a captian imo. No cool heads at the end of the 80 mins closing the game out.

We gift points away too easy and it always seems to take a monumental effort to score a try for ourselves.

  11. Bok fan here. If England focuses on the match and stop the plastic celebrations, we are in for a long afternoon. They lost four or five matches by less than seven points. Rugby can be brutal sometimes. But we will disrespect England at our peril.
