‘Put it back!’: Labour MP grabs the mace during parliament

The extraordinary moment Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle picks up the mace and walks it over the line during proceedings in the House of Commons. The parliamentary mace symbolises royal authority; without it the House cannot meet or pass laws. Tory MPs could be heard calling for him to expelled and he was asked to withdraw from the chamber immediately

  1. Never ceases to amaze me how childish the British Parliament House is.. they yell, they scream, they do antics like this.. how can they be responsible for running a nation when they act – at best- like cranky teenagers. And this might be an insult to teenagers..

  2. While Lloyd Russell-Moyle has been a passionate MP in the House of Commons for 7 years, he has been immature since the beginning. First, as an MP, never touch the mace, that is the symbol of authority from the Throne. Second, Russell-Moyle as of 2024, has been under investigation in relation to his behavior over an 8 year period of time. Third, he is a distraction from the Labour Party being on the brink of winning Government. I approve Keir Starmer's decision in related to the investigations, to suspend Mr. Russell-Moyle and removing him as a candidate in the 2024 election, as the Mr. Russell-Moyle is clearly unfit to serve his constituents and serve as a Member of Parliament.

  3. For context, since British politicians kept talking over each other, a sacred talking stick was introduced. This MP took the talking stick away, thereby legally silencing the other politicians (however they only started shouting because that's all they do)
