Israel and the US continue to brace for potential retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah, following the killing of Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah’s Fuad Shukr in Beirut.
US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin has ordered the guided missile submarine USS Georgia to the Middle East and told the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, equipped with F-35C fighters, to accelerate its transit to the Central Command area from the Pacific region to bolster the USS Theodore Roosevelt already in the region.
It comes after Lloyd J. Austin spoke with Israeli Minister of Defence Yoav Gallant. Northern Israel overnight was hit by a barrage of rockets fired from southern Lebanon.
In Gaza, Israel’s military operation has displaced another 75,000 people in the past few days – according to the UN.
