The United States military released footage of what it said was an ‘unsafe’ manoeuvre by a Russian fighter jet in an encounter with a US Air Force F-16 sent to intercept it near Alaska on 23 September.

The US regularly carries out aerial intercepts of Russian aircraft in international airspace in the area. Air Force General Gregory Guillot said the ‘conduct of one Russian Su-35 was unsafe, unprofessional, and endangered all’ in a statement posted on X. Russia’s embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment
