A 56-year-old man is recovering in hospital after a violent home invasion in Sydney’s west, where he was stabbed by a group of intruders with one reportedly wielding a machete.
Emergency services were called to Hope Street in Seven Hills shortly before 3am on Tuesday, after reports that a group of unknown men had broken into a suburban home.
According to NSW Police, the victim was confronted by four men in his garage and was stabbed in the arm during the encounter.
Investigators believe at least one of the attackers was armed with a machete.
The men fled the scene shortly after the stabbing.
It’s understood they left the property before the police arrived.
The victim sustained serious injuries to his arm and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Westmead Hospital for further care.
He remains in a stable condition.
A major crime scene was established at the home, with forensic officers and detectives working throughout the morning to collect evidence.
CCTV footage from the property is being reviewed, and police have been speaking with neighbours as part of their ongoing inquiries.
Authorities have launched an urgent manhunt for the suspects, who remain on the run.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or security footage from the area to come forward.
