Pedestrian dies after being struck by public bus outside major Perth sporting arena

A pedestrian was killed on Friday night outside the RAC arena after being struck by a Transperth bus.

Western Australia Police said a Transperth bus was turning right at 6.15pm from Mulligan Street onto Wellington Street and hit a 45-year-old man who was crossing the road on Wellington Street.

The man sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

Police confirmed the 37-year-old bus driver was not injured in the incident and was cooperating with authorities as investigations continued.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigations unit are appealing to members of the public for dashcam footage relating to the fatal crash.

There was increased foot traffic in the surrounding area of the RAC arena after a sports event on Friday night, however it is not yet known if the man was attending the event.

The incident is the second fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a Transperth bus in recent months.
