Teen charged, another on the run after stabbing and assault in Melbourne


A 19-year-old has been charged, and police are searching for another teenager over an alleged stabbing and assault yesterday.

In one incident, two boys allegedly assaulted a 70-year-old man inside a chemist at a shopping centre on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough at 4.55pm yesterday.

The man was allegedly assaulted after he tried to stop the pair from leaving the store with suspected stolen items.

The 70-year-old man from Dandenong North was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In the second attack, police believe the same two boys approached a 16-year-old boy waiting at a bus stop on Centre Dandenong Road in Dingley Village at 7.15pm.

The teenager was allegedly stabbed in an “unprovoked attack,” Victoria Police said.

He was allegedly assaulted as he tried to get away, and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police tried to track down the alleged offenders but they fled from the scene.

Later this morning, police arrested the-19-year-old at a home in Bonbeach.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be interviewed by police later.

Police are still searching for a second teenager.
