A 28-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of child sexual assault.
Kurt David Charlton, from Nollamara in Perth’s north, had been a primary school teacher until February.
Now, he is accused of offences against a number of children while providing babysitting services, with the youngest alleged victim just 18 months old.
A court was told today Charlton had provided a working with children check and police clearance to the toddler’s father.
It’s alleged he then sexually assaulted and indecently dealt with her as he took photos of her over a four-month period, between October 2024 and February 2025.
At another home, the babysitter is accused of indecently recording a four-year-old girl and her six-year-old brother.
Police also allege he set up a phone in another property to secretly record an eight-year-old girl while she was naked.
The court heard when officers searched Charlton’s Nollamara home, they found a phone containing indecently recorded photos of the children.
The 28-year-old was charged with one count of sexual penetration of a child under 13, four counts of indecent dealings with a child, and four counts of indecently recording a child following an investigation by Child Abuse Squad Detectives.
In opposing bail, prosecutors said six further victims had been identified and there was a strong likelihood more charges would be laid.
Despite concerns, Charlton was granted bail before his mother withdrew herself as surety in the afternoon.
He remains behind bars to appear again in court next month.
