A second person has been charged over a fatal shooting in regional NSW, accused of helping plan a violent home invasion that left a man dead.

The 37-year-old victim was allegedly shot after an altercation just before 3am on Monday on Connorton Avenue in Ashmont, southwest of Wagga Wagga.

Paramedics treated him at the scene, but he could not be revived.

Following investigations, police arrested a 28-year-old woman on Friday — a day after charging a 35-year-old man with murder.

She was arrested on Pinaroo Drive in Glenfield Park and charged with specially aggravated break and enter, being an accessory before the fact to an offence, and failing to disclose the identity of a driver or passenger.

She was refused bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.

Local resident Sabar Ejaz told 7NEWS he was woken around 2am on Monday by the sounds of people running, yelling and shouting — noise that lasted for more than an hour.

Another neighbour said Ashmont was usually a quiet area.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
