A look back at the life of legendary guitarist Jeff Beck

Often referred to as the greatest guitarist of all time, Jeff Beck has died aged 78, his representative has confirmed.

Beck broke through initially filling the large Eric Clapton-shaped void in the Yardbirds, expanding the range of music the group performed. He went onto form and lead The Jeff Beck Group, demonstrating his versatility with forays into jazz-fusion, funk and techno.

  1. RIP Geoffrey Arnold Beck. A near neighbour of mine, but never saw him in his classic cars or at Sainsburys TW or Wadhurst Co-op. Apart from Jimi he was the best guitarist of my generation. He also championed female musicians – how about bassist Tal Wilkenfeld who is a star IMO.
