Eight-year-old girl rushed to children’s hospital fighting for her life after being hit by a car in Sydney’s north

An eight-year-old girl has been taken to children’s hospital in a critical condition and is fighting for life after being struck by a car on Sydney’s north shore

Emergency services were called to Sommerville Road, Hornsby Heights at about 10.40am on Sunday.

“Officers attached to Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command arrived to find an 8-year-old girl unconscious on the road after being hit by a Holden SUV,” NSW Police said. 

“The girl was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken by road to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.”

A crime scene has been established and the driver of the vehicle involved has been taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.

The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Traffic has been slowed on the main road.
