Lyndoch Oval’s multimillion-dollar renovation has been completed on time and within budget ahead of its Gather Round debut.
“Feels lovely, the oval, the grass is just spectacular. No other way to describe it. Top of the top!” William Pitt from the Barossa Districts Football Club said.
The project has also provided a significant boost to local businesses, with 97 per cent of the work undertaken by South Australian companies.
“The build in less than 11 months to see this site transform the way it has has just been simply … mind blowing,” Barossa Mayor Bim Lange said.
The main oval has been strategically rotated 15 degrees to perfectly frame the picturesque Barossa Hills, ensuring a stunning backdrop for the upcoming matches.
“This is a big chance for SA, the Barossa Valley, to project itself to the rest of the country and make a lasting impression,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
10,000 footy fans are expected to descend upon the Barossa Valley for the two Gather Round matches at Lyndoch Oval.
