An investigation is underway after a man died following an assault during a home invasion in Sydney’s west overnight.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Union Road, in Penrith, following reports of a home invasion about 1.30am on Saturday.
According to police, two people broke into the unit and assaulted a man.
The man was treated by paramedics, however his condition deteriorated, and he subsequently died at the scene.
While the man is yet to be formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 60s.
Police established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
Inquiries are ongoing.
